The cameras have stopped rolling and the lights have dimmed, and now is the time for the nominees to sit back and wait to see how their movie fairs on Oscar night. In 4 days we will know what the best movie of the year was and what actor and actress gave the best performance at least according to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. This is the 79th awards presentation of the academy and this years theme is "memorable movie quotes". Below are my predictions on who will be taking home an Oscar on Sunday night. Cool post Jarod. We'll see if your prophetic skills come true or if we'll be needing to stone you. Listen, I've been meaning to ask... why in this world do you like "Blue Like Jazz"? I agree it's an enjoyable read, but it's awful theology! Defend thyself.
I agree that the theology is awful, but the reason I like it is because it presents how Christians should be living; not just saying that the homeless should be fed or that injustice should be stood against but actually doing these things. I do think that it would have more of an impact though if the theology was better. I have not finished the book. I am a little over half way through. My sister gave me the book a while back and I have been putting off reading it because I heard that it was not very good theologically, but I think it does have a good message that I hope does not get lost in the theological errors. When I am finished reading it, I may write a critic of the book.
I do see what you're saying, Jarod. I would view the book (which conservative me did read!) as a rebuke of conservative Christianity. We need to heed some of his warnings. So in that sense, I concur with your opinion.
